Connessione a SQLExpress con C#

Ciao,
Sto cercando di collegarmi a SQLExpress da C# express.
Vado a Add Connection..., Seleziono Miscosoft SQL Server database file, (la connesione client non e' disponibile nella versione express), e poi il file .mdf di Northwind.
Ottengo questo messaggio

One or more files do not match the primary file of the database. if you are attemping to attach
a database, retyr the operation with the correct files. Ifthis is an existing database, the file may be
corrupted and should be restored from a back up.
Cannot open user default database. Login Failed.
Login faile for user "user name"
Log file "Northwind.ldf" does not match the primary file. It might be from a different database or the
log might have been rebuild previously.

Poi se apro SQL Express e vado al database Northwind, lo trovo completamente vuoto. Senza piu' tabelle, views, .....

Se provo a fare database, attach..., northwind.mdf, ottengo un errore.
Failure to retrieve data for this request, e altre cose.

Con le mie conoscenze devo solo spegnere il computer e riaccerderlo per fare l'attachment del file.

Qualcuno puo' spiegarmi cosa sta succedendo?

Se mi connetto a SQLExpress da codice, o come client (senza puntare al file) tutto funziona correttamente.
