I noticed that there are two free tools help in converting swf to mkv:
1. Handbrake
2. YouConvertIt
They are free.

I use Video Converter software to do video conversion. I usually convert WMV videos to MP4 so that I can enjoy the movies smoothly on iPhone on the go. It also save me a lot of time coz it supports batch conversion in high speed. Good software recommended.
